Yesterday I fed my 18 month old rice balls which soon disintegrated and ended up all over the floor, like snow flakes, but stickier. I decided it was easier to clean it up by picking up each grain of rice. My little boy leaned over, watching me, fascinated, and as much as it irritated me to be picking up rice off the ground, I kind of enjoyed it, and pretty quickly the rice was cleaned up. The whole thing seemed very reminiscent of Buddhist fables, except that afterward my job was to clean up the multicolored plastic plates from Ikea.
This idea of having to clean things up grain by grain made me think of work, of working with people either using massage or energy techniques. Sometimes I feel like you do need to tediously deal with each grain, and that things get sticky, and you can’t just sweep them into the dustpan because they just end up sticking to the brush. Trying to take the quick clean-up option sometimes creates more of a mess, and takes a lot longer. Often it is actually quicker to pick up each grain, one by one, deal with it, and move on! And by getting on with it and cleaning up the junk that collects in our body, you feel a lot better, physically and emotionally.
The Alinga Blog is still in its infancy, but I will be talking more about Massage, energy work, Buddhism, Reiki, BodyTalk, meditation and pampering!! Pampering is always a high priority, don’t you think!!
