So, by now* I will have been on a LONG flight to Australia, and generally when I fly I like to do my own thing – read, journal, watch a movie (bit unrealistic this time around, with a 21 month old!). The thing that I dread on a flight is someone who is going to talk non-stop. This weeks Aussie-ism is:
~Ear-bashing
- Nagging or relentless chatter that doesn’t stop. “Oh, my mother-in-law, she gave me a real ear-bashing.”
Babies are a good decoys for ear-bashing. The chatty people get distracted by the baby, and it also gives you an instant way to get out of the conversation. I am all for a good chat, but sometimes it can be a bit one-sided, and that is what defines the conversation as an ear-bashing!
*Being very tech savvy, this was written before I left for Oz.
